Authorized Burning Permits
 
 Authorized burning permits may be obtained at the Fire Department and will only be issued on the day of the desired date (provided weather conditions permit). Burning will be between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
 
Burning Guidelines
 
  1. All fires consisting of limbs, leaves, and garden materials shall be kept to a size where flame height shall not exceed five feet.
  2.  Residents are required to accompany all controlled burning areas with a garden hose and rake.
  3.  All fires are to be completely extinguished by 6:00 pm and shall not endanger the life or property of the community.
  4. Campfires/bonfires shall be allowed to burn after 6:00 pm providing that an authorized fire official prior to the issuing of the required burning permit to  allow such burning inspects the proposed area.
  5.  Under severe drought conditions the fire department reserves the right to ban all privileges.
 
Prohibited Practices
 
 It shall be unlawful for any person to:
  1. Burn any materials of any nature upon any Public Streets, Sidewalks, or Thoroughfares within the city limits.
  2. Burn any materials other than those allowed by this ordinance without prior approval from the fire department.
 
Penalties
Anyone violating any of the terms and provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by confinement for a term not to exceed ninety (90) days and/or a fine of not less than Fifty dollars ($50.00) not more than One Thousand dollars ($1,000.00).
