Storms Hit East of Lexington

As storms passed through the Lexington area photographer Brian Miner captured some photos and a short video of the tornado.

At approx. 13:00 hrs we were dispatched for a structure fire at Community Lumber on Main Street. First arriving units found smoke and fire showing from the south end of the attic area, a quick attack brought the fire under control in less than an hour.

Douglas School Fire
On the afternoon of November 7th the old Douglas School located at 22nd and Franklin was distroyed by fire. The school had been converted into 5 apartments and was currently occupied. According to sources natural gas service had been disconnected from the structure and residents were using five gallon propane bottles for cooking and heat. All occupants were evacuated, firefighters were on the scene until after midnight working hot spots.
The cause or the fire is currently being investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

July 24th Structure Fire Bloom St:
First due engine had smoke and fire showing from the exterior and were confronted with the residents entering the house to save their pets. FF Joe McClendon stopped one at the door, while Capt. Daniel Bland entered the building to find the other occupant passed out in the rear bedroom. One of the residents was taken to the hospital for burns to her feet, firefighter Josh Coen was also transported for heat exhaustion.

2006
Pat's Antiques (formally Entines Dept. Store) was destroyed by fire. First arriving crews reported heavy smoke conditions. With help from Mutial-Aid units the fire was contained to the building of orgin with some damage to the restaurant next door.
1992
Pioneer House
An early morning fire started by a kitchen range malfunction set off a blaze that left many elderly homeless and claimed one life. In all 47 residents were evacuated and 5 firefighters sent to the hospital for minor injuries. Click
