Officers Meeting January 19, 2010
LEXINGTON FIRE AND RESCUE
OFFICER MEETING MINUTES
January 19, 2010

Present at meeting: Chief Smith, Assistant Chief Weber, Lieutenant Coen, and Lieutenant Harrison

Radio Grants: After a long voting process at the Homeland Security grant meeting our grant placed 5th out of 10 projects. However there was not enough funding so our grant was denied. Further radio discussion included the replacement cases that have been ordered for our current relm radios, possible replacing radios with heaver duty models as budget allows.

Budget Items: Chief Smith reported that the budget is on track and that our department is over budget for the year but we are still ok as all departments have been over budget due to the economy, fuel costs, and in our case our station remodel.

Web Site Updates: If you have not been to www.lexingtonfire.net recently then you will be pleasantly supprised at all the upgrades that have been done to the site. Lieutenant Harrison has put many hours in on making our site professional looking and functional. We have been receiving positive feedback from the public concerning our site.

Facebook: Our department is now on facebook we have a group and a fan page! Invite everyone you know to join!

Exercise Equipment: This is still in process and as soon as we get Glenn a pen and his check book we will get this accomplished.

Roster Changes: Due to inactivity we have removed Donnie Rodgers, Troy Frakes, Jonathan Evans, Doug Kenny, Erik Wilderman, and Jimmy Jones from the department and roster.
Katy Blaha has asked for a leave of absence and it was granted.

Non-Emergency Truck Policy: A new policy has been adopted by the officers concerning not taking calls while signed up on the Non-E Car. If you are signed up you have committed yourself to that shift. If you cannot fulfill your shift you need to call the station ASAP to let them find you a replacement. If you wait until you have a call and refuse to take it the following disciplinary action will be taken 1st offense Verbal Warning 2nd offense you may only sign up for four shifts the following month 3rd offense 1 month suspension from Non E shifts. In any case the Chief may skip steps as he feels necessary depending on the nature of the offense. (Family Sickness etc. will be handled on a case by case basis.)
